TEA OF THE MONTH
Great Tea Pot - VIDEO
Country of Origin: Japan.
Region: Shizuoka Prefecture.
Cup characteristics: Bright green liquor with an aroma of freshly cut grass and a pleasant bight of astringency.
Ingredients: Luxury green tea.
This rare tea is prepared exclusively in Japan. The word “kuki” means “stem”, the Bocha tea (other name Kukicha) is then traduced as “stem tea”. This tea is made of greater quality leaves than Sencha and Gyokuro tea. The appearance, the color and its taste are unusual and very popular. Using stems to make the tea doesn’t mean the tea has is of lower quality, it is actually the opposite: the stems give the infusion a light flashy green color. The appearance of the tea itself gives a contrast to the leaves compared to the yellowish-green stems. Its texture is silky and has light vegetable notes. This tea is a great companion to sushi.
Hot tea brewing method: When preparing by the cup, this tea can be used repeatedly - about 2 times. The secret is to use water that is about 80’C. Place 1 teaspoon in your cup and let the tea steep for about 3-5 minutes and then begin enjoying a cup of enchantment - do not remove the leaves from the cup. Once the water level is low - add more water, and so on and so on - until the flavor of the tea is exhausted. Look at the pattern of the leaves in the brew - they foretell life.
Iced tea-brewing method: Not recommended
